QUESTION

Are we liable for dog bite?

Asked on Jun 09th, 2014 on Animal Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I live in Sarasota Florida and I hired a pet sitter who lives and works in my condo complex (we rent). The agreement was oral and I paid her $100 to feed and walk medium size dog 3 times a day Thursday through Sunday; while we were out of town. The first day she called and said that the dog growled at her and bit her when she attempted to put the leash on. She is now suing; us do we have a course of action?

There are likely a variety of defenses here. You will need to hire a lawyer to defend the lawsuit if one has been filed as most of these issues are beyond the handling of the ordinary person.
