QUESTION

Threatening to be sued

Asked on Jun 18th, 2019 on Animal Law - Nevada
More details to this question:
We had our two dogs stay at a friends house for three days just until we fix our backyard. He is renting property from someone else. A Gardner came by and said one of the dogs bit him and the landlord is threatening to sue. both the dogs were tied up and couldn’t get near the Gardner’s unless they came up to to the dogs. Also the dogs aren’t violent and have never hit before. Police were never called nor animal control and the gardener has no injuries. This is in the state of Nevada. We believe this is just a money grab. Are we protected?

If you get sued, then turn the matter over to your Homeowners Insurance to defend you. You should call your Insurance to see if they cover you for dog bites. Some policies cover these incidents and some do not. Good luck.
