QUESTION

Valium for a Panting Dog

Asked on Jan 07th, 2014 on Animal Law - New York
More details to this question:
My daughter & I took my dog to the vet doctor yesterday to check on her panting (she's been panting for 33 hours with little or no sleep). The doctor said that she will monitor her in the cubicle with oxygen. About 10-15 minutes later she asked us if we wanted to see her and we did. She was still panting. The doctor said that she will give her more time to spend in the oxygen cubicle then she'll give her an x-ray. We went back to the front desk. Ten minutes later, the doctor came out and said that she gave our dog valium and had a cardiac arrest. We tried to revive her but she died. The doctor never mentioned to us about giving her valium but earlier on, I mentioned to her that I gave our dog Pepcid (famotidine). And she said ok. Please advise me if this is worth pursuing. I don't have that kind of money if a case builds up. Right now, our dog's cremation procedure is on hold. The doctor said that her firm will take care of the cremation expenses. Please help us. Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is no claim for personal injuries or wrongful death that can be brought with respect to your dog, that would result in anything other than the cost of purchasing the dog. Gerry Wendrovsky, Esq.- Upper West Side Lawyer www.upperwestsidelawyer.com
