Can Chapter 7 bankruptcy keep storage collection safe from reposession?

More details to this question:
I'm filing chapter 7. Behind in storage rent, can I still get my exempt book collection from them? Signed something with them over 24 years ago.

If they have already locked down your storage locker, then you are going to need to do something. They can't sell your book collection from the locker while the bankruptcy is pending but once you get your discharge, they can.

They have the property in their possession, similar to a mechanics lien. Mat have to file adversary as part of the Chapter 7 to turnover exempt property.

You must like in a state other than Arizona, because book collections are not exempt. I recommend you contact a competent bankruptcy attorney in the state where you live.

Probably not. Storage facilities generally have a lien on the merchandise stored therein. The best way to get your stored merchandise is to pay or make a deal with the storage company.

You can stop the repossession of your rental unit if it has not occurred yet. You will probably have to work something out to get the property they probably have changed the locks, but they cannot take any actions to collect on your rent. That is what a notice of bankruptcy does.
