QUESTION

Can I be arrested for not repaying a personal loan?

Asked on Dec 11th, 2013 on Bankruptcy - Washington
More details to this question:
I borrowed money from a friend in 2012 for my end of a deposit on an apartment. I was then unable to pay the debt back and was forced to move from Washington State to Texas to live with my mother again. After I left, he told me he was suing me and that because I didn't show in court I'm going to be arrested. Is this possible? I never received any court notices.

Not Possible. It is not a crime not to pay your debts. To sue you has to serve you, then get a judgment against you and then register the judgment in the Texas county where you are living and then he could garnish your wages or bank account.
