Can I file for criminal fines?

More details to this question:
It's not for any damages it is fines and court cost.

There are certain fines which cannot be discharged in a bankruptcy case whether under Chapter 7 (see 11 U.S.C. 523(a)(7) or under Chapter 13 (see 11 U.S.C. 1328(a)(3) .

Not and be discharged, but you can spread over the life of a chapter 13 plan in NJ.

You can file, but for the most part, criminal fines and court costs cannot be discharged.

It depends on the actually fine/court cost. I would suggest contacting a bankruptcy attorney for review. 523 covers exceptions to discharge. 523(17) states (17)for a fee imposed on a prisoner by any court for the filing of a case, motion, complaint, or appeal, or for other costs and expenses assessed with respect to such filing, regardless of an assertion of poverty by the debtor under subsection (b) or (f)(2) ofsection 1915 of title 28 (or a similar non-Federal law), or the debtor's status as a prisoner, as defined in section 1915(h) of title 28 (or a similar non-Federal law).
