QUESTION

Can my home be foreclosed on without my knowledge?

Asked on Mar 13th, 2013 on Foreclosures - California
More details to this question:
We received a call from the city today saying our house was foreclosed and sold yesterday. We have neither received any notices to our home nor anyone coming to the house, nor any phone calls. We did receive a default back in Sept/Oct 2012, but it went to my parent’s house, where we were previously living. My husband paid what was owed then and that was that. We haven't received any other mail at our house nor my parent’s house where we lived previously. Can they just foreclose like that with no notice, phone calls, or bringing something to our door?

If you were truly current on the mortgage and did not receive a notice of the trustee's sale, then you "may" have a basis to go into Court to set aside the sale. You would have to produce all documentation indicating the amounts you paid and when they were paid.
