QUESTION

Can they garnish my disability income?

Asked on Jul 24th, 2017 on Bankruptcy - Florida
More details to this question:
I'm on disability retirement due to a back injury I suffered a few years ago. I explained to the attorney of the credit card company that my home mortgage and utility bill consumed all of my income. That did not stop them from filling to garnish my income.

They will move to garnish as they will not take you at your word. you must file a request for exemption, immediately. There will likely be a hearing set where you have the chance to show that what they want to garnish is exempt under the law.
