Bankruptcy attorneys charge a wide range of prices. Our office (same location since 1983, we have filed over 10,000 consumer bankruptcies) charges usually $400 to a maximum of $916 attorney fees. Our average fee (flat fee) is usually between $500-$600. The $306 filing fee (for a Chapter 7) can be paid in installment payments later. All our interviews are free, full and complete prices are quoted in advance at the interview. Chapter 13 repayment plans can be done with a very minimal amount paid up front.

The courses range from $15.00 to $60.00. Those are the most common costs; there could be others involved.

There is a court filing fee of $306, and there are two required counseling sessions with costs that range anywhere from $10 to $50 each depending upon the provider. If you hire an attorney the fees range significantly with the experience, competence, and amount of attention and care that goes into your representation.

Every attorney charges differently. Our firm charges a flat rate ($2,000) for Chapter 7 bankruptcies in the eastern district of Michigan. The filing fee paid to the court is $306. Some attorneys are cheaper, but make sure whoever you go with dots their i's and crosses their t's. Precision/accuracy is important in bankruptcies.

Chapter 7 filings typically cost between 400 and 1200 dollars, depending on how complicated your estate is. You should be wary of the cheapest bankruptcy attorneys, as they often do not carefully consider your situation and if bankruptcy is really the right choice for you.
