When I filed for bankruptcy back in February, my lawyer said that it wouldn't be a problem to have it done by the time I get married in June. I paid in full a week later, and had all relevant documents a week after that. They didn't contact me for months despite my repeated attempts. Finally my petition was filed and my 341 hearing was set. Then it had to be rescheduled due to conflict on DOJ end (come to find out, that was a lie from my lawyer), then they gave me the wrong location for the second hearing where I had to drive over a hundred miles out of my way for nothing and missed the second hearing. Now I'm scheduled for a third and final hearing, and I received a letter from the US Trustee letting me know that this was my final chance. My lawyer is skirting around my requests for compensation for wages and travel expenses on the day I wasted, and after paying them the largest amount they offer to handle this, I don't feel like I'm getting the service I deserve.
Sounds like you hired an inexperienced bankruptcy attorney. Did you research your attorney before hiring them? You are now finding out why that is important.
However, you are free to fire your present attorney and hire a new one any time you wish. You can also seek to have fees disgorged by filing a motion with the bankruptcy court or filing a complaint with the US Trustee's Office. While I don't see anything in your facts which seems to warrant any of this, there's no way to know without fully reviewing everything filed in your case and finding out exactly what is going on and why.
I suggest having a consult with another bankruptcy attorney in your area for more details.
