I worked as an independent contractor, unemployment was not paid. I am actively interviewing for work with no offers as of yet. I strongly believe that it is my responsibility to pay my creditors and I have every intention of doing that. I need help getting my creditors to work with me, or see thing from my point of view. They are making demands for payment which is their right to do; my problem is that I do not see any money being received in the immediate future; I would be lying if I committed to make a payment when I have no resources. Is it practical of me to expect a level of cooperation with my Debtors? Does my strategy make any sense? Is there a way that I might get my creditors to stop making demands for funds that I just do not have and work with me to postpone my obligations until I am back on my financial feet again? My mortgage is owned by Fanny Mae and administered through Bank of America. If my hardship continues they will try a mortgage modification refinance.
debt negotiation with your creditors is certainly one avenue to explore, but you are in a prime position, due to your income, to file another bankruptcy case at this time, so you should also have a consultation with a bankruptcy attorney in your area to see if it makes sense to file another one at this time.
