Filing bankruptcy is extremely complex and mistakes can be disastrous. Unless you have a very simple situation, no assets, modest income and straight forward dischargeable debts; you should have an attorney involved in your bankruptcy.

Reminds me of a young intern asking the teaching doctor, "How long will it take you to teach me how to remove an appendix?" The doctor answered, "About four hours. However, if something goes wrong, it will take me four years to teach you what to do."

While many people believe that just filing out the forms is all they need to do to file bankruptcy, many people also believe that they can walk into the IRS for an audit without representation either. I have dealt with thousands of issues involving people who thought they were smart enough to represent themselves only to discover, too late, that a legal education and experience does have its place. Lots of luck!
