You must do a 1-hour credit counseling class before filing and a 2-hour class after filing; I recommend The Mesquite Group.org.

The bankruptcy code requires two bankruptcy "courses" that must be taken. One is completed before filing and the second is completed after filing. Otherwise, you will not get a Chapter 7 discharge.

The bankruptcy classes are always the same thing in each chapter. I believe you are asking if they are the same in chapter 7, Chapter 13, and chapter 11. They are always the same.

You must take two courses. One before filing. The second is for debtor education and cannot be taken before filing, and must be taken after filing to obtain your discharge. There is a deadline so you do want to take it promptly, preferably before the meeting of creditors.

No. While it varies by district, the financial management class in a Chapter 7 is normally a video presentation online while the financial management class in Chapter 13 is a live presentation.

No. The law requires that every consumer debtor take two classes. One before filing the bankruptcy and the second after the case is filed. It is wise to talk to an experienced bankruptcy attorney before deciding to take this important step.

No. The bankruptcy class you ask about must be the mandatory contact you have to make with a consumer credit counselling agency before you file a bankruptcy, or the class in personal financial management that you must take after you file but before you get a discharge.
