More details to this question:
My boyfriend and I currently rent a space and live in my travel trailer. He is filing chapter 13 and he informed me his lawyer is asking for my signatures and paystubs and I want to know why exactly I am involved and why I need to sign anything? We are not married and I do not want to be tired with any legal obligations.. I don’t feel comfortable with them having my work info I feel like that is an invasion of my privacy.
You are under no legal obligation to provide any of that information or documentation. However, doing so does not create any obligations to you. Your boyfriend is required by the bankruptcy court to disclose the amounts you contribute towards the household expenses. This should NOT require disclosure of your income or require you to sign any documents. This may be some specific requirement they have in Washington of which I'm not aware.
It's not going to hurt you to provide the documents, but I do not think your boyfriend is required to provide all that.
Make sure he's using a qualified and experienced bankruptcy attorney in his case.
