We are a into our 1st year of bankruptcy, when she told us she would withdraw. I asked her to advise us what we are supposed to do now since we still have another 4 years of payments. She did not respond and went straight to the courts and got her official withdraw. We are clueless on what to do next. We obviously can't afford to hire another lawyer, since about $4,000 of her fees were incorporated into our monthly payments, why should we keep paying her fees if she's no longer our lawyer. Please help....
Your lawyer will not be paid her fees unless they were approved by the bankruptcy court. As far as hiring a new attorney, I highly recommend it. You might be able to find one who will take their fees from your monthly payments, but you may have to come up with some money from a third party to retain them.
