Property Tax foreclosure: what steps do i take?

More details to this question:
I received a letter stating that my home may be auctioned due to unpaid property taxes. I called the number on the letter and they advised me that if i don't come up with 13,000 by 12/15/13 my home will be foreclosed and auctioned. I want to keep my home what do i do?

Obviously, you should pay the tax lien. What am I missing here?
