More details to this question:
I a being sued in court by a debt collection agency....possibly wage guarnishment. I have 20 days to respond to the court. I have already gone through several wage guarnishments which resulted in my possibly losing my home to foreclosure. Can I stop this guarishment, as it could result in my losing my job? This is a very unfair and inflated amount.....late charges and penalties (credit card debt).

Yes, one of the advantages of filing a bankruptcy case is that it will stop any and all collections actions on debts owed prior to filing the bankruptcy case. This, of course, includes garnishments.
I suggest having a consultation with a bankruptcy attorney in your area for more details.
