If your county has a legal aid society, you might try to get help from them. You're judgment proof; that is, none of the funds you receive from Social Security can be garnished to satisfy a judgment, if you are sued.

You don't need to file bankruptcy. Your SS income can't be taken by creditors. Stop paying bills and any taxes except your house taxes (if any).

The better question is why would you want to file bankruptcy. You have been misinformed about what bankruptcy is and what it does. Bankruptcy will not eliminate your obligation to pay ongoing living expenses, or taxes on real estate. And for you to ask where a bankruptcy is filed tells me you are not able to put together the complex paperwork that bankruptcy requires. Frankly, you are not going to be helped by bankruptcy, nor do you need bankruptcy. Look for advice on asset protection instead.

I don't think bankruptcy will help you unless the IRS is withholding part of your Social Security payments.

You are judgment proof. Creditors can not touch your disability money. You may want to consider contacting your creditors, and ask them to write off the debt. Most creditors don't want to chase someone they have no hopes of collecting anything from.
