Either one is fine. Just make a copy of it & put your case number on the front of the check before mailing it off. And there is no need to endorse the check.

If you are represented by an attorney, please ask the attorney for such advice. Depending on what chapter is involved, how much the refund is, date of filing and receipt of refund, and property exemptions will decide how your tax refund is treated. First, your attorney should advise you to whom to send the refund.

If you are in Chapter 7, you should send the refund check, unendorsed, directly to the Chapter 7 Trustee. If you are in Chapter 13, you should send a money order or cashier's check for the amount of the refund and send it to the Chapter 13 Trustee.

Usually, you endorse it and send it to the trustee. You can call the trustee's office and someone on the staff will tell you what to do.

It depends on Trustee and attorney. I have my clients turn them over to me and I provide them to the Trustee myself. That way I know they were turned over and the exact amount.
