Almost all debts. Certain debts are not dischargeable. You would be well advised to consult with an attorney face to face.

Bankruptcy does not discharge all kinds of debts. Bankruptcy never eliminates debts for child support or alimony. Debts for student loans can only be discharged if you bring suit and successfully persuade the court that it would be impossible to every be able to pay them. Debts related to criminal misconduct or recent use of credit are unlikely to be discharged. And do not get me started on the criteria for eliminating tax debts in bankruptcy explaining that is WAY too complicated to answer in an online forum.

No, Section 523 of the Bankruptcy Code lists the exceptions to the bankruptcy discharge. The most common debts that cannot be discharged are child and spousal support obligations, and tax debts that are less than 3 years old. Some debts are dischargeable in Chapter 13 that are not dischargeable in Chapter 7, such as some debts owed to the government and debts resulting from a divorce decree.

Not necessarily. There are about a dozen classes of debt which are generally excepted from discharge. These include debts which arise from specific kinds of wrongdoing, such as fraud, larceny, embezzlement and deliberate injury to persons or property. Also most taxes and student loans. There are some others, and various exceptions and details. You would benefit from retaining a skilled bankruptcy lawye?( it is almost always worth the investment.
