QUESTION

Will I be held liable for my deceased spouse’s contract obligations?

Asked on Jun 04th, 2014 on Bankruptcy - Arizona
More details to this question:
My husband recently passed on December 29, 2013 and he signed a contract for security equipment for our home in Goodyear, Arizona. My question is: Since the contract is in his name only, am I still responsible for the remaining security service? The contract ends in April, 2015. We were paying $39.95 per month for the service.

Sorry to hear about your husband. I am sure this is a very difficult time for you. Unfortunately, most debts signed by either spouse is the obligation of the spouse who did not sign. You might contact the security company to determine if there is a way to terminate early. Let me know if you need any other assistance.
