My ex and I divorced in 2008. I let him stay in our house so I could move back to another state but I remained on the deed (any legal financial responsibility was removed) and I would get my name removed from the deed once he paid me the agreed amount for the house written in the divorce decree. He filed bankruptcy in 2010 which wiped out the other money owed to me since it was not listed as spousal support. He just contacted me saying he is filing bankruptcy again and losing the house this time (going into foreclosure). Do I have any right to money or have any say in this matter and what happens to my ownership in it?
You need to talk to a family attorney in the area where the divorce was located. You are probably mistaken as to being taken off of the loan. Yes, a foreclosure will affect your credit.
