QUESTION

Advice on PLLCs and hiring limitations?

Asked on Nov 04th, 2016 on Business Law - New York
More details to this question:
Hi- I am planning to open a private psychotherapy practice in NY state. I believe that I need to file a PLLC rather than an LLC. However my understanding is that with a PLLC I will only be able to hire mental health professionals with the same degree (in this case PhD Clinical Psychology). I would like to be able to hire professionals with other backgrounds: nurses, social workers, etc. Is there a way to do this? Thank you in advance!

In a PLLC you can hire whomever you want.  The owners must be professionals.  I have a PC.  I am an owner, but have support staff.  Employees can be anyone.
