QUESTION

Business Patent

Asked on Dec 15th, 2013 on Business Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I am in the initial process of starting my own online web based business. While it is not a physical invention, can any concepts such as a newly produced concept of a subscription based business allowed to have a patent? For example, if a business has a great idea of a monthly based subscription based package of healthy and nutritious based products that customers can subscribe to, can the owner patent that particular concept so nobody else is allowed to have similar subscription based business with healthy products? If patent is not the necessary option, what other options are there that may protect the business's concept like this example?
