QUESTION

Can an attorney be used in a small claims case?

Asked on Oct 21st, 2014 on Business Law - New Hampshire
More details to this question:
I have a pending small claims suit in NH for the amount of $2500. An attorney has notified me he is Counsel for the defendants and has filed an "appearance" with the court. Is this possible? I thought lawyers can not be used in small claims.

In some jurisdictions, the appearance of an attorney will cause the Court to transfer the matter to a different court, but you can't deprive the defendant of his/her/its right to be represented by counsel by filing the case in small claims court.
