QUESTION

Can I hold someone personally responsible

Asked on Sep 16th, 2014 on Business Litigation - Rhode Island
More details to this question:
As a business, we took on a new client. He stated she is a new business entity in the state of Maine and we are in Rhode Island. The entity does not exist and we performed services for the "company" Seeing as there is no corporation, is there a corporate veil even to pierce? Can we go after this person directly?

If there is no entity, the individual is personally liable.  However, don't be sure there is no entity.  Merely because the principal place of business of a corporation is Rhode Island doesn't mean that it is incorporated there.  Many corporations and other business entities are incorporated in states (usually Delaware) other than where they do business.
