QUESTION

Can I sue for a privacy violation?

Asked on Oct 12th, 2012 on Business Law - Arkansas
More details to this question:
I sent in a complaint about a picture to a buisness and asked to keep my name confidentional because I use to work at that buisness. I was notified by a manager that the DM told everyone that I sent in the picture. I'm having a lot of stress now from co workers and the situation about people knowing I sent in the complaint, when I was clearly told that my name would not be mentioned at all. On top of that, the DM is telling headquarters that I was the one who posted the picture so I could just make a complaint. I have proof I did not. I'm so stressed out and It wouldn't be right to let them get by with this. Lots of more details, I'm just checking my options and is interested in maybe hiring a lawyer.

It does not sound as if you had any legally protected expectation of privacy when you made your complaint (a business is not generally under any obligation to honor a request for confidential treatment). Moreover, it does not sound as if you have suffered any legally recognized harm for which damages can be recovered.
