QUESTION

Can I sue KMart for unreliable security system ?

Asked on Dec 04th, 2012 on Business Litigation - Florida
More details to this question:
I had my wallet stolen from me inside of the KMart today this afternoon. My wallet was in my purse and someone went into my purse and stole it. I had asked the security guard to view the cameras from were I was at, and the security officer viewed the camera and said the cameras were not in place were my wallet was stolen from. My wallet was stolen infront of the register. They mean to tell me that they have cameras all throughout the store and none on the regiesters. I believe they lied to me, and they are not telling me thaty wallet was stolen. I believe an employee from there store stole from me.

As a general matter, store operators are not liable for the supervening criminal acts of third parties that occur in their stores. They owe you no duty to install or maintain surveillance cameras in any area of the store.
