QUESTION

Can i sue my apartment complex?

Asked on May 30th, 2023 on Business Litigation - Florida
More details to this question:
My complex constantly has thieves of missing packages and people breaking into garages. The complex is supposed to be gated but the gate is constantly “broken” and left open at all times mostly on both exits. My work truck which i have parked for two years had its catalytic converter stolen from me last week and ive sent emails about this to management with no word back, the community is also supposed to have a security officer however i have never seen one since living here for three years. Is there any grounds to sue for negligence of keeping the gate open at all times even though its supposed to be closed?

Not on those facts. Unless there is some written guarantee of no crime, the gates have nothing to do with criminal access, and there is no responisbility to protect you from theives. Your remedy is to move elsewhere to a better apartment complex when your lease is up. You need to secure your property in the meantime.
