Can my former company enforce noncompete?

More details to this question:
I have a non-compete and the company I went to work for own another company that falls into my non-compete. The company I went to work for has nothing in common other than the owners. Can my old company enforce the non-compete even though I work for one of their separate companies?

The short answer is that it depends on the language in the non-compete that you agreed to. A non-compete for less than 2 years is presumptively valid. However, many non-competes are modified by the court as to the geographical scope of the non-compete. Contact a lawyer who is board-certified in civil trial law for a a free consultation.
