Do I need any sort of special permit to make and sell homemade fish bait? What risks do I run?
Asked on Sep 04th, 2012 on Business Law - Washington
More details to this question:
I would be making and selling homemade fish bait. Labeling them not for human consumption of course. Would I be liable if anybody ate the bait and got sick? Is there anything I could do to protect myself and my business from this?
You do not provide any information about what the contents of your bait may be, so it is impossible to comment on permits. As a general matter, there is always the possibility that a consumer product may cause harm through misuse or otherwise. That's why insurance against such risks is a very good idea.
