I''ve contacted the company, they offered me coupons. No one seems to identify the object at the company or at the processing plant. They now asked if I''d send the object to them via a recovery kit they are sending me. Should I send it to them? I''m in Missouri.

Certainly. You weren't injured in any way and have no legally recognized right to recover money from them. If you send the object back to them, it will assist in making their products safer in the future. Isn't that the right result?
