How can the Department of Social Services hold a record over 20 years old against you?

My children only two of them where taken away because their were more people over their then in my house for the children! How can I get this fixed? I had a situation with my grand children. The children had been in my home for 24 hours and then the dhs came and took them out of my home. I do not think that was right they had food and everything they needed for the moment; they said I could not meet there needs when I got them in an emergancy situation. Can you help me please?
