QUESTION

How do I dissolve a partnership

Asked on Jul 05th, 2014 on Business Law - Florida
More details to this question:
My partner and I have a local magazine together, and I recently found out my business partner is doing illegal drugs...cocaine and mushrooms, to be exact. I do not want my magazine to suffer because of the reputation she is getting...it's a small town, and everyone knows everyone's business! I don't want anyone to think badly about me because she is my partner! I love this magazine and so does the community. She also has taken some of the advertisers money for the ads, and kept it for herself...it wasn't much, but it definitely happened! We don't have any written agreement together or an LLC, but we own the business name together which was purchased thru SUNBIZ. Other than that, we don't have anything legally binding as far as contracts go. We did have a business bank account together, but that has been closed, because we are looking for a new bank. I just want my business to be successful and reputable, and with her in the picture, I am afraid this will not be the case.

Your rights and duties in dissolving the partnership are governed by the Revised Uniform Partnership Act, Chapter 620, Florida Statutes.  I recommend you contact a board-certified business attorney or board-certified civil trial lawyer in your area to assist you.
