I removed a tracking device from a customers car, now their boss is threatening to sue?

I have a small tint/audio shop and have done probably 12 jobs for this guy in the last 4 years. He never brings in the vehicle himself, always has an employee of his bring them. I disabled a gps tracking device yesterday at the request of one of his employees. He called today threatening to sue for disabling the device. Now I didn't see the difference between this job and every other job his employees bring me, so I disabled it. In the past 4 years he has only been to the shop twice, he always has his employees bring the vehicle, so I did what was asked of me without questioning the motive of the employee. Do I have any liability if the employee does something negligent while driving the vehicle? In hindsight I admit I should have checks with him first, but like I said this is the normal protocol for doing his jobs (ie the employees bring them without me talking to the owner first).
You acted in accordance with the directions of an agent of the owner of the car, who had apparent authority to give such instructions. In any event, the damages from your actions -- even if they were ultimately determined to be wrongful -- are too small to be worth suing over. Obviously, the issue here is the employee, not your work. You don't need to do anything unless and until you hear from a court or an attorney.
