More details to this question:
I operate from home in New York but would like to register a C corporation in Delaware. If I register a corporation in Delaware, would I need to get foreign qualification in my home state New York? The business would mostly be selling software online.

You would want to check with a NY attorney, but since you have a physical presence in NY, personal and actual location where service are rendered and products sold and shipped, and probably where your bank account is located, you should register as a "foreign corporation". I doubt any bank would open an account unless you did.
