is this discrimination

More details to this question:
I was in a grocery store purchasing groceries and my total bill was $353.00. the cashier looked at me and said why are you buying so much food. I replied I have a family of 7. once I explained it was 5 adults 2 kids in my home he said, what are you Mexican or black? i replied neither, why? he said only those people live in a house with that many people. ithen explained that we are Italian and he said well you don''t look white you look Mexican. I have light brown hair and I''m light complected. when I called the store manager to inform him of this situation he offered me$75 but I have to sign a release form and also stated his employee admitted to saying this to me.

It is not illegal for a private citizen to comment on the ethnic appearance of another person. You cannot be discriminated against unless you are treated differently on the basis of your race. You were not denied service, charged more, or provided with inferior goods because of your membership in a protected minority group. The store employee was a boor and a moron -- but no law was broken.
