QUESTION

Is this slander?

More details to this question:
I work as a tire technician at a retail store.....a Few months ago i was pulled into the office and disciplined for parking a car and not torquing the tire on a vehicle in accordance with company policy,in which the customers tore fell off down the road. The manager gave out the information that i had done so to many associates in the store. As the weeks continued i had many jokes by associates as well as customers refusing my services "because they didn''t want their tire falling off." my name soon spread to other stores due to a break in confidentiality. My reputation as a tire tech has been ruined.not because i didn''t follow policy but because i wasnt even the one who parked it and not follow policy. I asked management to review the tape and they said that was correct that it was not me and they would fix it. Its been a month now and everytime i bring the subject up they say there working on it. Is this not slander?

Quite possibly. If your employer refuses to issue an appropriate public retraction, you may wish to discuss the matter with an attorney.
