QUESTION

LLC Disolution dispute

Asked on Nov 23rd, 2015 on Business Law - California
More details to this question:
I had an media production, LLC, with a partner. He refused to pay taxes and regularly took more money from the business than I did. We decided we would close the company. I filed the paperwork to dissolve the LLC, which was successful, but we still have about $2500 in unpaid taxes and filing fees and the company still owes me $3200 in pay. He has now stopped replying to any of my communications to pay his half of the outstanding tax liability or address the issue of the pay difference. In large we purchased our own equipment and keep it separate from the company but the total assets owned by the company are about $3000 current value Some he has, the most I have. I intend to keep those assets to make up some of the pay difference. My plan at this point is to hostilely take control of the virtual assets in a hope that he will comply to the tax split. i.e. the website and his email, which he still uses for work, whats the best way to do this and will there be problems doing it?

The fastest, cheapest, and easiest way to take care of this is to write a demand letter that your old partner pay you what he owes you.  When he doesn't respond, then sue him in small claims court for up to $10,000.
