QUESTION

On campus delivery service?

Asked on Jan 20th, 2013 on Business Law - Connecticut
More details to this question:
I go to a small private boarding high school. The school is situated about 5 miles from a small suburban area with tons of restaurants and stores. A couple of my friends and I, all day students over the age of 16 who drive, created a delivery service delivering food to the students at the school. After a very successful week our school barred us from delivering to the campus for liability reasons regarding students delivering food to the school. I believe their main fear was that we would crash while making a delivery and sue the school. Is there anyway we can get around this? What other problems do you foresee beyond this? Thanks!!

Normally insurance, including an "umbrella policy" to raise policy limits, would solve this concern. Further, come type of indemnity or "hold-harmless" provision might help. It would start with a meeting to identify the special concerns.
