QUESTION

Recourse against a bad attorney

Asked on Dec 10th, 2012 on Business Law - Minnesota
More details to this question:
I went thru a business dissolution. My attorney didn't give all of my discovery over to the other side, stating it wasn't relevant to this case. A couple days prior to trial, he told me he was not going to let me testify about certain things. At trial the other party lied continuously and my attorney, didn't cross examine the other party, nor did he let me testify of all the issues. I lost everything. Findings of fact were issued over 90 days ago, is there anything I can do?

If you believe your attorney misconducted himself, or simply failed to be sufficiently careful and diligent in your case, you may have a malpractice claim against him. Attorneys generally maintain insurance against such claims. You will need to engage the services of another attorney to review the file and determine whether you have such a claim.
