More details to this question:
I was scheduled off for today (Tuesday). So as of Tuesday around 4pm as I was enjoying my day off, I got a text from another employee telling me I was scheduled for today (Tuesday) at 8pm. I never got a call from management telling me of this schedule change. If I don''t show up I risk being fired. But I don''t drive and the job is 30 minutes away and my only ride is busy tonight (busy every tuesday). 4 hour notice I feel is too short to let someone know.
This is really not a legal question. Your employer can fire you for any reason or no reason at all. If they are determined to fire you, they can do so. If they value your continue services and are willing to assume responsibility for the lack of notice to you, they won't fire you. This is a business issue, not a legal one,
