QUESTION

Will I loose my money to scam if I help

Asked on Mar 15th, 2016 on Business Law - California
More details to this question:
A friend told me she has some monetary inheritance to claim from his later father employer, and that it will require $1100 to first process the documents for the inheritance: (1) certificate of inheritance and (2) certificate of change of ownership. Then after the documents are processed another $15000 will be needed to process the inheritance. She gave me the lawyer email who I sent email to and he replied saying same thing, that the said inheritance is an agreement between my friend's late father and his employer to compensate him with some amount in the case of death or accident while on company duty. And since he died while on official assignment, the employer agreed to transfer the benefit to his daughter(who is my friend). I don't know the lawyer and neither have I met him. I am just wondering how true is this inheritance claim. Can someone enlighten me if this is scam? Thanks.
