More details to this question:
I understand that my daughter is at fault. It was the first time she ever committed such vile act but target employees did not have to treat her this way. My daughter is a type one diabetic. She was in state of shock, was having chest pain and needed her medication. They were aware of the situation , refused to give her meds. The lady in charge stated that if she dropped, feinted it is not there problem . They are not supposed to give her anything, that if she needed her meds, she should'nt have been in target shopping and started laughing at her because she was rocking back and forth due to her pain. Lady in charge stated that my dAughter had a stomach pain. I am not so sure she has medical degree to be ale to diagnosed my daughter. My daughter's blood glucose went up to 560 she was shaking, dizzy, had chest pain. I tried to bring the blood glucose down but was unable and had to take her to the emergency the next day. Do I have a case against target?
A store has a right to detain a shoplifter (I assume this is what your daughter did)- but only long enough to determine what, if anything, was taken from the store, and then, if the police are called- until the police arrive. At that point the police take over. A store is not allowed to detain anyone for two hours. If you can actually prove that Target employees prevented your daughter from leaving the store for two hours, you certainly have a case against Target.
