QUESTION

Can i sue the electric company?

Asked on Apr 25th, 2016 on Civil Rights - New Jersey
More details to this question:
My electric company has estimated bills for 3 months in a row before which I heard is illegal. The bills are dramatically too high at times. I have a 2 bedroom apartment so I feel a 400 or 600 dollar bill for one month is excessive or that the meter is broken but have emailed them 3 times and gotten no reply. Is there anything legally I can do to make them listen or cut my bill?

I am not sure you can sue the electric company as you right. However you might want to contact the NJ Board of Public Utilities and see what your rights are. If they indicate that your rights are being violated, you may be able to file a complaint. I am providing you with a link. http://www.bpu.state.nj.us/bpu/assistance/complaints/
