can they remove my physically handicapped son from his gym class?

More details to this question:
My son is handicapped and does not have the use of his right leg. He uses crutches to get around at school.He has taken a regular gym class his entire school career. His gym teacher removed him from class last week and refuses to allow my son to participate without clearance from his dr.

the 'devil is in the details'. the gym teacher should be specific in the 'written explanation' as to why your son cannot participate. you can then address the specific reasons. the reasons would have to be based upon 'safety' for them to be upheld.
