QUESTION

Civil Rights Restoration

Asked on Aug 09th, 2013 on Civil Rights - New York
More details to this question:
I was convicted of a felony DWI in 2000 in New York State, and am looking to have my rights restored, including the rights to vote and own firearms. I currently live in the state of Florida, and I've read that I may be able to have all rights restored (excluding the ability to hold public office) via a Certificate of Relief from Disabilities. Is this correct? If so, would this cover me in the state of Florida? What would be the best way for me to get started, considering I am now in Florida? Thanks!

A certificate of relief would restore your right to vote in NY.  I am not sure what if any effect it would have in FL but it seems to me it should be honored there as well.
