QUESTION

Cops raided my girlfriend's house looking for previous tenants

Asked on Aug 19th, 2014 on Civil Rights - New York
More details to this question:
Cops raided my girlfriend's house this morning with a warrent issued for the tenants that lived there 2 years prior. They throw my pregnant girlfriend on the floor(who already have a bad back) and pointed a firearm at her 7 year old daughters face. Even after we plead with them that the person they were looking for no longer reside at the current place of residence, they continue to tear apart the house and arrest my girlfriend and I for a small possession of drug paraphernalia. I feel our rights as hard working citizens was violated and wanted to know what we can do to help aid our pain and suffering from this unjustly act

For starters, you need to retain a good criminal defense attorney to help you defend against the criminal charges in question.  You may well have civil rights claims against the officers, but I would need a lot more information to be able to evaluate them, including a copy of the warrant.  Generally, if police officers rely on a properly executed warrant, they are in the clear for a later search, but there are exceptions.
