More details to this question:
I have worked for a private practice MD for 13 yrs. During all this time and more recently this week, he has different set of rules which constantly change for me v/s other employees. He makes loud, intimidating statements in front of other employees to me , ex if I am 2 min late, first time in 6 months, stay over, early on other days, I get yelled at and job threatened and "talked" to. Others are not. Anything I say is twisted out of text. Only asks office manager if I was busy when he was out v/s other staff. which I was. Never have had a break. I do my job and cover for others, unasked, but get no credit. If he is ill all I have to do is look at him wrong. Lots of petty things he has done but I now have high BP and headaches and work/wall on pins and needles for my job because Im a single mom that need her job so that seems to give him a boost. He has been very rude, sarcastic, double standard rules all the time.
Discrimination or harassment is unlawful only if it is based on one of the seven "protected classes." The protected classes are: race, color, sex, national origin, religion, disability or age 40 or older. If you are subjected to the treatment you reference due to one of these protected classes, then you may have a claim for unlawful discrimination or unlawful harassment if the employer has at least 15 employees. However, if the treatment is based on some other reason, then it is unlikely that you can file any type of legal claim.
