Fired for Not Shaving

Asked on Nov 11th, 2015 on Discrimination - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I've been working at this place for 2 months. They told me i would have to shave during the interview and i told them about my skin condition and even brought them a note from my doctor. The fact im African American makes the condition worse by default. 2 months go by and then they reduce my hours and then fired me.

the employer can impose certain dress and appearance requirements. your case is more complex because you have a medical condition which makes shaving more difficult. a further complication is connecting the termination of employment to the unshaven condition. the employer will state that the beard had nothing to do with the termination. you would have to connect the beard to the termination. a difficult task.
